How I Care For My Skin

i'm so excited to be finally doing this post today. it really has been a long time coming as i've attempted to write about how i care for my skin late last year. i just felt like it wasn't the right time seeing that i was still trying out new products. at the moment, i am pleased with how my skin looks and feels and it is a direct representation of the products i use.
i think its fair to say that i have tried a lot of skin care products both high end and low end. i've had my fair share of trial and errors over the years and i'm almost positive that i have finally found a routine that works for my skin. some of the products i'll mention today, i have repurchased multiple times because they truly work. other than purses, skin care is the one thing i don't mind splurging on....

my skinspiration (yeah i just made that up) is my mom. she has the most beautiful, smooth and radiant skin. she effortlessly cares for it, which is something i have to work at. i find that consistency is key when it comes to skin care. yes, you're going to have those moments when you borderline hoard products, however once you find what works for you stick to it. i personally don't wear makeup every day, but makeup as one knows, can affect the elasticity and wear of your skin. moreover having a smooth, even canvas only enhances makeup application even more which is something i find all beauty junkies try to achieve. i don't have a dedicated night time or day time routine to be honest, however certain products are utilized during the day vs nighttime and vice versa. Furthermore, I have combination skin that's sensitive however isn't break out prone.
Murad Refreshing Cleanser.
This is my ride or die, tried and true skin care product that I have been using for years. It's by far my favorite cleanser that I have used and one that I always come back to. It cleanses my skin thoroughly and prevents any breakouts like a champ. Whenever my skin is congested I can count on this in my routine to help unclog my pores and leave my skin refreshed. I've always heard great things about the Murad range and this definitely does not disappoint. Whenever I veer away from using it for whatever reason, I instantly regret it so I always have a backup in my stash in case I run out.

Sunday Riley Tidal Brightening Cream.
I'm sure you've heard of this little gem in the beauty community as it seem to been the rave lately. Before there was Sunday Riley, I was an avid Murad moisturizer girl. However i wanted a moisturizer that i could use both in the warmer and cooler months. While the Murad moisturizer was great for the winter time, it was way too heavy for the spring and summer seasons. Sunday Riley defenitly hit it out the park with this one as it works through the changes here in Florida. I love how cooling it is (works wonders in the summer) and how non greasy it is. I find that it leaves me moisturized throughout the entire day. My skin drinks it up, stays soft, subtle and radiant. Yet another product I always have a backup of.

Sunday Riley Good Genes.
The name for this product is so fitting. Good genes is a treatment/serum if you will, that I use on an almost daily basis right before i apply my tidal moisturizer. It leaves my skin smooth, semi matte and allows for a flawless application of my foundation. It does not sit on the skin or is it greasy. Initially the smell was off putting for me however it has grown on me to the point where i don't really smell it anymore. Thankfully the scent does not linger on my skin. One of the things i personaly like about good genes is that with consistent use, the few fine lines on my forehead seems smoother and my pores appear smaller.

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate.
I was super skeptical about facial oils for a very long time, until i stumbled upon this little gem. The Kiehl's midnight recovery serum is one of my favorite products to treat my skin with. I apply this at night and let it work it's magic over night. It does not sit on the skin and is pretty lightweight in texture. It leaves my skin radiant the next morning and non greasy. I love that is not a messy oil as it sinks in my skin flawlessly. I know a lot of people are particular about their night serums/oils but this is one that is worth trying.

La Mer Toner.
Other than my chanticaille face masks, I think this is one of the more pricer products in my regimen. I bought this on a whim one day after wanting to try a new toner for a while. I have a love hate relationship with toners. At times i feel like they aren't doing a thing for my skin, while other times i feel like they work. I stopped using primers for a while until i bought this current one and i have to say i am really enjoying it. Is it a MUST in my skin care regimen?...no. however i bought, i love it and I continue to use it. It is very comforting on the skin, it does not sting or dry my skin out what so ever. It's non-fragranced which is great as it is non-irritating and it is pretty darn hydrating. I'm on the hunt for a less expensive toner but I have a feeling that this is going to be a staple.

Chanticaille Bamboo & Hibiscus Exfoliating Creame .
Exfoliators are one of my favorite products to use in my skin care routine. While I do not use them every day, i think they are a necessity in any regimen. My go to is the Chantecaille Bamboo & Hibiscus exfoliator which is by far my favorite exfoliator to date. It is the gentlest one i've used and it is SUPER hydrating. It's not harsh or excessively abrasive on the skin, however it is still effective. It's hydrating properties is pretty darn impressive and i looove the way my skin feels after using it.

Chanticaille Detox + Fruits & Acid Face Masks .
These two should come as no surprise to you as I have done a review on them here. Both of these products are my holy grail face masks. I won't bore you much with my love for these but I seriously am obsessed with them. I love that these do not break me out even after detoxifying my skin, and can be used as a spot treatments as needed. The fruits and acid masks is definitely my go to, to remove any dull or dry skin. They're both pricey but so worth the extra coins.

Herbivore Hibiscus + Rose & Coconut Water Hydrating Facial Mist .
Ya'll I am OBSESSED with this damn product, so much so I have two bottles of it. At it first glance looks like a basic hydrating mist but the smell of this is SOO yummy. It lives up to it's claims of hydration and is such a refreshing product to use during those warmer days. I use it under or on top of my makeup and yet it does not break up my products or leaves my face a hot wet mess. The mist is super fine and prays evenly throughout. You seriously need this product & i cannot wait to try more products from this brand!

Garnier Fructis Micellar Cleansing Water.
First of all, i am super late to the Micellar water party! I started using this product over the summer last year and have been hooked ever since. Idk what the heck a micellar water is, all I know is that this shit is GOOD! It takes off all my makeup and then some. It's not harsh, removes the most stubborn of products (Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara i'm talking to you), and lasts forever. Even when I haven't worn makeup I will still use this as an extra step after cleansing my face and my bottle is still going strong. I've been tempted to try the bioderma makeup remover for months now, but cannot bring my self to stop using this. It's readily available at the drug store and comes in two different formulas, which are both effective.
if you've made it this far I thank you. I know this was a long one but it was fun to create and I hope it was a fun read as well.
have you tried out any of the products mentioned in today's post? let me know your thoughts if you have.
